Tribal Research

Tribal research plays a vital role in the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) by preserving and promoting the cultural heritage, traditional knowledge and socio-economic aspects of the Mising tribe. The MAC conducts comprehensive research initiatives aimed at documenting various aspects of Mising tribal life, including their language, customs, rituals, traditional practices and indigenous knowledge systems.

Through ethnographic studies, linguistic research and anthropological investigations, the MAC seeks to understand the unique identity and socio-cultural dynamics of the Mising community. Additionally, research efforts focus on identifying challenges and opportunities faced by the Mising people, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, livelihoods and environmental conservation.

Key Initiatives

  • Ethnographic and linguistic research on Mising language, customs and rituals.
  • Documentation of indigenous knowledge systems and traditional practices.
  • Research on socio-economic challenges — education, healthcare, livelihoods.
  • Policy formulation based on research findings.
  • Publication and dissemination of research outputs.

Way Forward

The findings of tribal research serve as valuable insights for policy formulation and development planning within the MAC. By incorporating indigenous perspectives and community-driven solutions, the MAC strives to empower the Mising people, preserve their cultural heritage and promote sustainable development initiatives tailored to their needs and aspirations. Ultimately, tribal research contributes to fostering pride, resilience and self-determination among the Mising community.
